"IMHO the metal used seems a bit flimsy for the price. Not a universal mount by any stretch. I have a GOBI took rack with tubular steel and I ended up after several trips to Ace Hardware I was able to engineer a solution. I used 3/4” pipe straps with stainless steel hardware. And even then I had to drill holes in the mount to get it to fit properly. Once I had it mounted and the shovel locked in there it looks great and very sturdy."

"I ended up using the bag that’s made for the shovel instead. But I will keep the mount in case I want to show off someday. It does securely and quietly affix the shovel to whatever you’re willing to bolt it to however. Turns out the folded shovel inside the bag fits just fine in my Owl box on the back of the van. Towed overland rig probably has more need for the mount for space reasons than a van. So unless you’re just styling and you want everybody to see that you have this shovel on your van just use the bag and stick it in storage somewhere."
