DMOS visits Cutter's Camp

Cutter’s Camp is the annual meeting of the minds for park builders around the country at Timberline Resort on Mt. Hood. It’s a time for snowcat drivers to test new cats, terrain park managers to check out new tools, and for everyone to reflect on the past season. DMOS collective joined the group of over 65 builders to introduce the Stealth Shovel and see firsthand what goes into a park every night when the sun goes down.

Each day of the conference the attending crews load up in a snowcat and head up to the glaciers for hands on building and workshops. The focus here is on sharing knowledge and perfecting terrain building. A few activities included determining proper angles for takeoff and jump landings, cutting half pipes, and how to be most effective when hand maintaining features.  Builders shared stories of the difficulties they’ve experienced this year as low snow in previous years has made finding employees difficult for many resorts.

We surveyed on our social media in the weeks leading up to Cutter’s Camp to provide insight on what our users wanted. The feedback showed skiers and snowboarders are looking for more tow-ropes, creative parks, and bigger jumps. DMOS founder Susan, was happy to share these results at the camp with terrain park builders. Perhaps your local resort will be adding some of these features next season!
