DMOS Shovels Put to the Test Down Under
We were stoked to see 4X4 Australia put our Stealth and Delta shovels to the test in a review by off-road gear expert Kev Smith. Kev’s no stranger to recovery tools, and he took two of our popular shovels to the beach for a real-world trial. From digging out a 80 Series Land Cruiser to reshaping tracks in deep, loose sand, his verdict was clear: these are serious tools built for serious conditions.
Kev praised the Delta shovel for its strength and versatility, especially its ability to switch from a traditional shovel to a hoe using the adjustable connector—a feature that really comes in handy when you're digging in soft terrain like sand. With its forged steel blade, telescoping aircraft-grade aluminum handle, and compact weight (2.5kg), the Delta offers a great balance of durability and ease of use. The Stealth shovel also earned high marks, especially for how compact and stowable it is. Despite its light weight and foldable form, Kev found it easily handled moving large amounts of sand, thanks to its wide blade and 1370mm telescoping reach.
At DMOS, we build tools for people who don’t settle—for folks who need gear that works as hard as they do, whether it’s at the beach, on a mountain pass, or in a snowy driveway. Seeing our shovels earn high praise from someone with Kev’s experience reinforces why we do what we do.
